Twitter is the 3rd most popular social media platform with around 317 million+ active users as of 2017. While Facebook is the most popular social media platform, users mostly depend on Twitter for sharing small notes and quick notifications known as Tweets. However, the entering of new social media platforms and take over of the giants on the field caused the slow down of the Twitter growth. It is not accelerating its popularity as it used to be in the early 2010s.

How to create a Tweet?
You’ve successfully created a Twitter account and learned to sign in to it. Now, it is the time to tweet something. All the messages or posts on the Twitter is known as “Tweets.” That’s why we usually say, “tweet something” instead of “post on Twitter.” To create a tweet, all you have to do is clicking on the “Tweet Button” at the top right corner of your Twitter screen. It will bring up a tweet window which looks like this.
Now type what’s in your mind and click on the Tweet button to post it on your Twitter timeline. Remember that Twitter put a limit of 140 characters for the tweets.
Importance of the Username in Twitter
Choosing a good username is always important on any social media platforms. In Twitter, it is even more important to own an easily understandable username as your identity. Usernames are usually implemented as @TechQuintal (In our case.) If your name is “John,” you could choose some wise usernames such as @john123 or @IamJohn. But it’s hard to get such good usernames as most of them might be already taken by other users with the same name. Don’t worry you could change it anytime from your account settings.
Username plays an important role in the Twitter platform. Unlike in many other social media sites, just mentioning your username will ping you on the notification tab of your Twitter profile. In other words, it is just like an #tag to mention a particular person in a Tweet.
There are few rules in choosing a username. You will not be allowed to use few words such as ‘admin’ or ‘twitter’ in your username. It is to avoid any possible confusions occurred due to the inclusion of such common words. Another rule is that your username should not exceed 15 characters in length. That’s it. There is nothing else important in choosing a username on Twitter.
Now, that’s all about creating an account on Twitter. If you are a complete beginner, we will be posting a complete Twitter guide on utilizing various functions of the platforms. So, stay tuned to know more about it.
